The Ready Center Falling Skies Group of 5

Article submitted by Brian S. Kiefat @ The Ready Center

Just a heads up to all of you who appreciate a good post apocalyptic tv show.  The tv series Falling Skies is returning tonight at 9/8c for its third season.  And if season 3 is anything like seasons 1 or 2, we’re in for an awesome 10 episodes.

The show’s premise is this:  Since season 1, all of  humanity has been under attack from a a group of aliens that are clearly not of this world.  Governments have crumbled.  Services such as running water, electricity, and our nations delicate food supply system are all but gone.  Every person who has managed to survive the initial attack is living a very different life than they ever had before.  The acquisition of food, water, and other essentials come second to only one thing: winning the war for our very survival.  Mix in some interesting characters, a background set that is realistic to the “T”, and the relationship issues that us humans like to have and you’ve got one heck of a good show.

Although the concept of “humanity vs aliens” is not at all appealing to me, after viewing a few episodes I really gained an appreciation for the show.  The ideas and concepts utilized in the story line are identical to those used within the world of prepping.  The ideas of self reliance, planning, community, and preparedness are all seen within the series making it not only entertaining, but slightly educational in the sense that it may actually get you thinking, “What would I do if I had to survive in such dire situations?”  Regardless of all else, it’s just good entertainment.

If you haven’t seen or heard of Falling Skies, I’ve included promo clips for Seasons 1 & 2, as well as the upcoming season 3 below.  So if you have nothing going on Sundays at 9/8c, it’s worth checking out.

I actually just purchased the season pass on iTunes for $23.99. And that was for the HD version too. I actually have the first two seasons on itunes as well. It’s a really good show that keeps me busy when my other 2 shows aren’t airing – Revolution and The Walking Dead. None of these series ever air at the same time, so I’m constantly getting my fix. Anyways, It’s been a good show so far. I suspect season 3 will be just as awesome as the the first two.

Falling Skies is one of the best shows on television these days.

    • Very much so agree. The story line and relationship between characters is richly done and the producers attention to detail has really paid off when it comes to the quality of each episode. Looks like we have a good season ahead of us!
