
Doomsday Preppers

As we continue to cover the basics here at The Ready Center Blog, it would be a crying shame if we didn’t take the time to acknowledge the television series that took prepping mainstream. National Geographic’s Doomsday Preppers debuted in February of 2012 and gained popularity almost instantly. What’s more amazing than its instant popularity is that it did so well that an entire second season aired only 8 months later. Pretty impressive. The program is documentary-like as each episode follows the lives of 3 different “preppers” and shows what methods of preparedness they use as they prepare for TEOTWAWKI (see glossary). In order to make the program more interesting, each individual is not allowed to state that they are simply “preparing for a disaster or emergency”.
