Essential Oils for Disasters - The Ready Center

Article submitted by Shirley Ready @ The Ready Center

If you know my family, you know that we’ve become oily over the last year and a half. Did we strike black gold? Not so much… but I did find a key to keeping my family healthy for years to come.

It all started in April of 2013. The long story short is that I went from floored with a headache to no problems in 20 minutes without any OTC medications. As I did my research, I found that Young Living Essential Oils pure and of the highest quality. What was better to me is that I didn’t even have to worry about any side effects for me or the baby I was carrying.

Essential Oils Dropper - The Ready CenterWhen I brought the oils home, I obviously wanted to my husband to approve, but how would I explain why I chose Young Living and how they contributed to our family’s self-sufficiency? Then I found it. These oils don’t expire while the OTC and prescription medications do.  How is that possible? Because these oils are 100% pure, they kill off mold, bacteria, viruses and anything else that would threaten their shelf life. As long as they’re kept in a cool dark place, the molecular structure remains intact and (more…)

NBC Revolution Power is Everything - The Ready CenterOn May 9, 2014, bad news came to those of us who have come to appreciate the American Post-Apacalyptic television genre.  NBC announced that it would not  renew Revolution for a 3rd season.

For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of viewing Revolution, it really is an outstanding show.  It came from the director of IronMan and was produced by J.J. Abrams (the guy who brought us LOST).

Revolution takes place 15 years after the start of a worldwide, permanent electrical-power blackout.  All electricity on Earth was suddenly disabled at a moment’s notice.  Trains and cars stopped where they were, ships went dead in the water, and aircraft fell from the sky and crashed.  No cell phones, no working gasoline pumps, no running water, no grocery stores full of products, and for many people, no hope.  People were forced to adapt to a world without electricity over the next fifteen years.  The story (more…)

Whats New At The Ready Center

We have another update for you!  And on top of that we want to give a HUGE thanks to all of you in The Ready Center Community for both supporting us and each other!  We are proud to be the central hub and connecting point for so many caring and selfless people.  Anybody can prepare to care for their family and loved ones, but what we appreciate most about this community is the sheer willingness to use your preparations to show care for others when they are down and out.  It has truly left me speechless on more than one occasion.  Thank you for that.

And now for what’s new with THE READY CENTER:

  1. We have added over 100 New Products to our store since our last update and are expanding our product line almost daily!  Check it out!
  2. In addition to using Paypal as your preferred payment option, our store now accepts all major credit cards including American Express.  We hope this make your shopping experience here at The Ready Center that much more enjoyable.
  3. We are well aware that the carrier we were using for shipping was causing a HUGE price increase to the customer.  Well… WE HAVE FIXED IT!!!  We have added an additional carrier which has reduced shipping rates by almost 110% in some cases. (I know, wow!)  Add some items to your cart and get a shipping quote before completing your order.  We are sure you’ll be impressed!
  4. We have also updated the Glossary page on our Blog to include and explain even more terms you may encounter while learning and exploring within the preparedness community.  If you think a certain item, term, saying, or piece of equipment should be included in our Glossary, please forward us the information and we’ll get to it ASAP.
  5. We have also added a “Contact Us” page (click here) so we can better serve you with your individual preparedness concerns and product related questions.
  6. Lastly, we are giving Twitter a try.  If you like to tweet and would like to receive an occasional tweet from The Ready Center, click here to follow us.

Thankful - The Ready Center

Well, today is the day.  It’s the one day of the year when everyone (supposedly) takes a moment to be grateful for even the little things we have been blessed with.

The Ready Center is still a new entity in many ways.  We have only been in existence for a little over a year.  Yet despite our relatively short existence, we have so much to be thankful for.

We are thankful for you allowing us to help shape your individual and family preparedness plans.  We are thankful for you supporting this project by making purchases at our Ready Center Store.  And we are thankful for you caring enough about your loved ones to take preparedness seriously.  We are honored to be even a small part of it.

Today as we enjoy the Thanksgiving tradition, we ask that you please take the time to remember and pray for our service men and women who are unable to be with their families.

And if you have a moment, please take the time to comment below and tell us what you are thankful for.  We’d love to hear all about it.

Forever Thankful for You and Your Support,

The Ready Center

$10 Bill The Ready Center

Article submitted by Brian S. Kiefat @ The Ready Center

It’s that time again!  Time for what…?  Time to take seriously the safety and preservation of you and your family.  Time to take a moment and plan ahead.  Time to pull $20 out of your wallet and invest it in your future.  This month we recommend you take your 20 big bucks and exchange them for two $10 bills.  And for good reason…

As part of the Prepping on $20 a Paycheck series, the goal is to have you stocked with water, food, a pack full of supplies, and $100 emergency cash stocked away for REALLY rainy days.  When it comes to the “cash on hand”, we should all already have the following:

  1. One roll of quarters
  2. Ten $1 bills
  3. Four $5 bills

Total Amount So Far: $40

Today, we want you to bump up your post-apocalypse money stash up to a whopping $60.  The plan is to purposely vary your emergency cash denominations with the intent of you not losing money during barter/haggle (more…)

I last wrote about our huge pile of freebies in April (click here).  Here’s a portion of what I have received since then.  There’s more, but as I said (more…)
